Chemical Phenyl salicylate / Salicylic acid phenyl / Salol CAS 118-55-8:Phenyl salicylate, commonly known as salol, is a white crystalline powder with a faint aromatic odor. It is a chemical compound formed by the esterification of salicylic acid. Salol exhibits a melting point of about 41°C and is moderately soluble in organic solvents like ethanol, but it is sparingly soluble in water. This compound has antiseptic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it valuable in pharmaceutical formulations.
